Hamas must have too many post-colonialist advisors. The Zionists and survivors of the holocaust feel no kollektivschuld, and can play the ultimate holocaust trump card against all European guilt. Hamas' post-colonialism guilt play has been ideologically neutralized. And yet they continue to "hold" and "play" it.
There are no 'causes', only perceptions in the realm of the hyper-real. I'm just saying that if Hamas wanted to win this game they should release the hostages. It would give the West no excuses to end the conflict and ensure Gaza Palestinians got a better deal. The way it's going now though, people like me believe that the Gazans are responsible for prolonging the suffering... as a cynical propaganda ploy.
